Experience the New and Improved Website

EntryAdvice.com was initially released as EntryAdvise.com in 2021. The website was designed to provide information about entry requirements for various countries, specifically in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the project was temporarily abandoned shortly after its release.

In the middle of 2022, the website was restored and underwent significant changes. The sensitive information about COVID entry requirements was removed, and new sections were added to the website. These included information about the availability of different hotel chains, a list of public holidays, and even a weather forecast for the capital city.

The primary goal

The website provides all of the data and information for free, and this has always been its primary goal. However, I understand that running a website involves certain costs, such as hosting and domain fees. In the future, I may consider adding affiliate links or advertising to the website in order to partially offset these costs. I want to ensure that our website remains available and accessible to all users, while also being able to sustain itself financially.

Nevertheless, the primary focus will always be on providing valuable and useful content to our users, rather than making a profit.

What was changed?

COVID-19 and travel restrictions have significantly impacted the way people travel in recent years. Many websites have added sections dedicated to providing information about the current state of the pandemic and the corresponding entry requirements for different destinations. However, it seems that these sections are no longer necessary, as the impact of COVID-19 on travel has decreased in certain regions (e.g. Europe). This is likely due to the fact that COVID-19 cases and deaths have significantly decreased in the region, and restrictions on travel have been lifted or relaxed. As a result, travelers may no longer need to consider these factors when planning their trips.

In addition to removing the COVID-related information, the website also removed its section on visa requirements. This decision was made because the data was not deemed useful in its current form. It is generally a good idea to check the official government website of the country you are planning to visit to confirm the most up-to-date visa requirements. Visa requirements can change frequently, especially during times of crisis or political instability, and it is important to ensure that you have the most accurate and current information before traveling.

By consulting the official government website, you can be confident that you have the most up-to-date information about the specific visa requirements that apply to you. This can help you avoid any issues or delays during the visa application process, and ensure that you have all of the necessary documents and information when you travel.

In addition to checking the official government website, you may also want to consider consulting with the embassy or consulate of the country you are planning to visit to confirm the visa requirements and to get additional guidance on the process. This can be especially helpful if you have any specific questions or concerns, or if you are unsure about any of the requirements.

Summary

Refactoring the website was a time-consuming and challenging process, especially since it was done by a single person. One of the main tasks involved manually reviewing the data that had been gathered about railway networks, subway systems, and duty-free allowances for various countries. This required a significant amount of time and attention to detail, but ultimately I was able to successfully refactor the site and add new features and content.

Despite the challenges, I was determined to ensure that the information on the website was accurate and up-to-date. Now that the refactoring process has been completed, it is time to see if all of the effort was worth it. I am eager to receive feedback from website visitors to see how well the new features are being received and whether the website is meeting the needs of travelers.
